2007 Spotlight Charity

We don't just talk about being committed to our community; we want to walk the talk. Our bank and our employees are involved with many different charity and community events throughout the year. Each year, we select an area charity to spotlight...this charity will change on an annual basis, allowing Flint to make a significant impact during each year to an important social cause.

Our 2007 spotlight charity is The Liberty House, located in Albany, Georgia. Liberty House, established in 1981, is a nonprofit agency that provides free comprehensive services for domestic violence victims and their children - as well as to their families and friends. The organization also provides referral information to the perpetrators of domestic violence. Liberty House views domestic violence not as a private problem, but one that must be recognized and responded to by an entire community.

The organization's Crisis Hotline (1.800.334.2836) is open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year; crisis line counseling provides immediate assistance, information and referrals. Other services include: an emergency shelter, support groups, on-call response advocacy, legal and individual advocacy; referrals for housing, job training, health care and more; services for the children of victims and prevention and education training.
