Our Flint Community Bank family supports numerous local charities and is especially proud to be actively involved with Mission Change. Mission Change was started in Albany, GA by husband and wife team, Todd and LaDonna Urick. The Urick’s have always been passionate about missions and supporting various charities and organizations. After years of seeing local needs fail to receive the attention needed, they began Mission Change with the goal to raise money and awareness for local individuals, causes and organizations in need. In August, the Urick's, along with their two little girls, stepped out in faith and moved to Eleuthera, Bahamas for a year as missionaries. They have left the comforts of their home and families to help build adequate housing and meet the needs of those much less fortunate than we are. Flint Community Bank employees support the Urick's mission work in Eleuthera monthly.
Several of Flint Community Bank's employees have supported other events of Mission Change right here in our own community. Through the monthly service projects we have helped feed 900 families for a week by filling the manna trucks and delivering food from the FoodBank of Southwest Georgia. We have given of our time in the building of a Habitat for Humanity house and participated in the first Hope for the Homeless and Hungry Sleep-out.
On November 13, 2009, we will have the opportunity to participate again in the Hope for the Homeless and Hungry Sleep-out. We will be raising money and awareness for the homelessness right here in the Albany area and even sleeping overnight in cardboard boxes. Please come out on November 13th and join us.
